01.05.2006 | Fighting for the good. In its search for a suitable mycotoxin binder, the Business Unit Specialty Raw Materials Malaysia met representatives from Schering-Plough Animal Health to discuss a possible cooperative venture.
One major headache for the livestock industry is the contamination of around 25% of the world's feed production by mycotoxins, or mold. The problem is compounded in Asia, with its warm, damp climate. Animals that eat such feed suffer from reduced growth and an inability to procreate, and are more likely to fall ill or die.
The most common method of protecting livestock is the addition of adsorbents to the feed that bind the mycotoxins together in the animal's stomach and thus render them harmless. DKSH supplies the agricultural industry in Malaysia with adsorbents, thus contributing to the well-being of the livestock and, ultimately, of the population.
In its search for a suitable mycotoxin binder, the Business Unit Specialty Raw Materials Malaysia met representatives from Schering-Plough Animal Health to discuss a possible cooperative venture. After getting to know DKSH's strengths as the No.1 marketing, logistics and distribution services group in Asia, Schering-Plough promptly appointed DKSH as the distributor for their Cooperbind product. Cooperbind is an effective mycotoxin binder and thus a product of major importance to the livestock industry in Malaysia.
